Walking the streets late at night

Knowing the way allows for

dreaming, pondering

My playful shadows

multiplying, evaporating

at my feet

suddenly mingle with

the shadows of footsteps

I hear but don’t see

Wondering

how near they are

The interplay of our shadows

keeps me in the dark

Come to your senses

step aside now

Stop dreaming

My “Please go ahead”

is met by a clear “No”

to the tune of a

why-should-I-song

Waking up

Wondering

“Why don’t you?”

“This really annoys me”

The deep voice of a man

behind me at armlenght

“This happens 3 times a week

Walking

home from the gym

ladies step aside

for the black guy

with the hoody

about to rob them”
